A good friend is over and we just saw a UK artist called
Professor Green came on TV.

He came from nowhere to go on to grow a huge fanbase
(393,352 fans on Facebook at time of writing), sell records,
get a publishing deal etc…

My friend is closely related to Professor Green,

so we recorded a quick chat for you on the
story of his success.

We got interrupted half way through…
but hopefully his story will come across..

I love this story because it highlights the power of scenes and niches,
and secondly because its just REAL!

Let me know your thoughts

Speak soon,

Hagop

// November 9th, 2009 // Comments Off // The Music Industry, Uncategorized, the music business

Just shot this quick video whilst hanging out at this festival…

Was reflecting on how I went from being on the verge of giving up and playing to 5 people
to touring the world, selling records and playing to 80,000 people.

And even though the music business is evolving and changing,
there are still some parts that are doing so well and prospering.

So I figured I would make some resources to shine some light on whats important to focus on..
If you know anything about my work, I’m big on finding your musical niche.

I put down my entire music business success model.
the exact same model that allowed me to tour the world,
sell records and help others to do the same.
(They even gave me a gold disc!..)

In fact, it’s pretty straight forward

Just enter your email address in the box to the right,

and I’ll send you:

  • An 18-minute video explaining the “Seven Things I Wish I Knew About The Music Business”
( Im giving you things that took me a while to figure out so you dont have to)
    PLUS…
  • A PDF copy of a music business success blueprint by one of the top managers in the world…
  • A bonus 30-minute audio interview with a friend of mine who has written over 70 top-40 hits.

Its my mission to help as many people to get their music to where they want to get to -
and the best way to do that is to give you something that you can use and implement RIGHT NOW.

I want to share only the most valuable things that have worked….

Please get in touch with me if I can help you in anyway.

Talk soon!

Is it true that if you do what you love, the money will follow? And Nov 5th…

// October 27th, 2009 // No Comments » // DIY Music, Music Marketing and promotion, music marketing, music promotion

People tell me all the time that they want to quit their job and follow their bliss.

Im sure you’ve heard people say:

“Do what you love and the money will follow”

Well, there is something they aren’t telling you!

Its true that the money will follow, but here’s the thing:

You need to serve a lot of people doing the thing you
love for the money to follow!

ie people have to be interested in what you love to do.

When I was playing to no one, I wasn’t making any money!

Why was I playing to no one?

Because nobody cared.

Nobody perceived what I was doing as valuable.
ie “having value”, so they werent going to pay me anything.

It wasnt until i had some major understandings that things started to change.

Before I would have promoted myself and my music to anyone -
just in case they liked it or knew someone who could help me.

*(here’s the Nov 5th link!)

But then, I realized that i had to drill down and start a little fire on my own -
with the most flammable firewood!

“Flammable Firewood??”

What on earth am i talking about ?

Here’s what i mean:

i was wasting so much time trying to get things going with random “generic” gigs and people.
ie non flammable wood..

Once the focus was shifted onto a particular type of audience and shows etc,
things just started moving.

Taking the fire analogy, i had a match and at first was trying to light a big thick wet log.

I then shifted that to lighting paper, small dry twigs and other very flammable material.

So stop wasting time and money promoting to those who dont care (yet).

Do your research, find the niche and then try doing what you love…

* in the UK on Nov 5th: they light bonfires, set off fireworks and burn effigies of Guy Fawkes..
