Songwriting Tips From The Man Who Penned Over 70 Top 40 Hits

// July 5th, 2010 // SongWriting

Thats right, you can’t deny that this guy is doing something right!

When a friend was in town with her music buddy “Desmond”,
I was summoned to hang out.
Little did I know that this guy was the writer behind what many
consider to be classics – eg “Livin on a prayer” by Bon Jovi..

Whether you write “popular” music
or not, this guy has alot of science behind what he does.

I tried to delve in to some of that in my interview,
hope you like it:

  1. Ava Lemert says:

    Writing towards a title. So simple and yet so brilliant, really. I feel inspired to challenge myself to create a title and write around it! LOVE it.

  2. Fantastic interview with a true classic. I actually bought Desmond Child and Rouge on vinyl back in the day. It’s staggering the amount of his songs that are permanently inside most of modern humanity’s collective brains. I could die happy having one “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” he’s got 70! I’m definitely going to go write a song with “Livin’” or “Lovin’” iin the title.
